That doesn’t mean negotiations will be easy, but it is noticeable among the players and organization how much better everyone seems to feel. I do think the Flames will re-engage with several potential UFAs. Tarot cards indicate Mikael Backlund and Elias Lindholm are probably the first attempts. We will see where things go. Colorado took a run at Backlund, before landing Ross Colton and Ryan Johansen.

Maybe I'm just anticipating a lesser return but I think there is a decent chance Vladar would clear waivers. I understand it's not a popular opinion.

Does it? They only would pay for Vladar if they value him long term. I doubt they want him long term but could get stuck with him for the rest of the year and next when Francouz comes back.
If Francouz was gone for the year, Vladar is a better option. For now, they probably looking for someone short term.
Stolarz?
Halak?
Martin?
Elliott?
Vladar needs to be traded to a team that could use him for the entire season and is looking for upside.
Teams like Buffalo, Winnipeg, Nashville, Detroit, San Jose, Arizona, Anaheim, Ottawa were all teams that could be a good fit. These teams already have made moves to fill the spots though.
Teams just aren't lining up for Vladar as there as lots of Vladar's out there.
Montreal might be a good fit, but they will not pay a 2nd to get him.

I said this in June and caused a bit of an uproar when people were claiming we were getting a 2nd for him. Still think it is possible, so take the 4th if it is available.

Flames basically have to hope another GM sees starter potential in him to get value. Markstrom is going nowhere and there’s no point in dumping Vladar unless it’s to clear a spot for Wolf. I also think Flames will have to take at least a million in cap back in a Vladar trade.

Quite the road trip to start the year. First game at home against Winnipeg and then 6 on the road out East. But we usually do well on that trip.

Reads like a guy who knows how to hedge his bets when talking about rumours. I dunno what to think about that, at this point I just want to see some games now and see how the team actually looks before I make any kind of judgement and I appreciate that Conroy is seemingly taking that same approach.

The longer none of them sign, the more hopeful I am that Conroy is going to trade them.
Trade 'em all between now and the deadline.

I kinda think Lindholm and Z stay, and Backs, Hanifin, and Tanev are gone by the deadline.

This would be a happy result in my eyes. Out with the two oldest (Backs and Tanev) alongside a player who may or may not want to play here going forward.
