*Downs a gallon of Haterade*
He's playing in a tournament with not the best players in the world plus it's on a big ice surface which suits his game a lot more.
If Tavares is even hinted at being offered we should be all over that.
*effects of haterade slowly fades*

I would trade Johnny in a heart beat if it made the Flames better. He was flying in the world cup last year i didn't see it during the season or playoffs.

Can't expect a guy to play the same when there is no physicality.

Less to do with physicality and more to do with being surrounded by elite talent. He played all season with bottom six talent on his off wing.

Gaudreau > MacKinnon
Gillies > Pickard
The Avs would need to add.

but this is the rub... there's no guarantee of that... obviously the other team is also moving assets because they also are thinking their team is better with the acquisition of Johnny.
I don't think its a matter of moving Johnny as opposed to adding other players to ensure our lineup isn't a one team line... the 3M lost a bit at the end... i don't know if Tkachuk mentally lost an edge because of the Doughy thing or because he hit the rookie wall... but that line wasn't the same...
Ferland needs to become more consistent... and if he does, 20/20 is definitely a possibility.... The top line wasn't awful during the playoffs; i'm sure i read that JG did pretty well in the advanced stats - now that could be because Mony was just lighting things up too.
If Bennett could turn the corner along with Lazar Calgary could be be quite strong...
A team like Nashville is what Calgary could model themselves on... strong D and a bunch of fast skaters up front, who are all decently skilled... We're close, just need a few more pieces to play more consistently...

Some of you guys are unbelievable. 4th round pick, 3 years into his NHL career and he's posting .879 PPG and you still manage to devalue the player and look to the other side of the fence wishing and hoping that whatever is over there is better than what you have.
Everyone worried about Johnny falling apart in physical games - get off it. Johnny has shown people just like you time and time again that he can learn, adapt, and conquer any level of play in any type of game.
For perspective on how it can take smaller players time to adapt/develop...
Did you know this bag of bones:
entered the NHL at 23 years old and didn't score 40 points in a season until he was nearly 26 - and didn't break .8 PPG until he was nearly 28?
At 23, Johnny Gaudreau has played 3 seasons and has never scored fewer than 60 points in a season...
This artificial ceiling that some of you want to put on Johnny is ridiculous - especially when you think that we're all supposed to be Flames fans on here. Why the over-analysis and lack of faith?

Its ridiculous how quickly we give up on some of our young top end players when they have a subpar season or stretch of games.
I for one will be pissed if Gaudreau, Monahan, Tkachuk, Hamilton, Brodie or Bennett are traded at any point in the next handful of seasons. We need to build around these kids.
Even superstar players don't have continuously linear progression from the start of their career to the end.
I apologize but I've been reading too much crap about Gaudreau trades lately and the same thing happened earlier in the year with Bennett and last season with Hamilton. I'm sure there was some mention about Brodie and Monahan at some point too.
Could we please enjoy the young star power we have and work on finding the right pieces to compliment them so we can see their full potential???
I understand being frustrated with our players play but, even when they struggle for extended stretches, we need to keep the young players who have proved they are in the top echelon of the league.

Exactly, we should be talking about who to add on Johnny's line that would allow him to play his game rather than who to trade for.

This is why Canadian teams continue to struggle - impatient fanbases.
Pavel Datsyuk scored 3 goals in his first 42 playoff games (4 seasons). Did Detroit panic? No.
He then went 29G, 47A, 76P in 79 games over the next 5 years. And drank from the cup.
These trade proposals completely derail the rebuild. Johnny will be better next year.

Trading Gaudreau? WTF is wrong with some of you people? We've been waiting for a player to step up and be a top end talent. We finally find one and now there is a factio that wants to trade him for magic beans? Some Calgary fans=NG.

How much of the trade talk about Gaudreau is stemming from the fact it is May and October is a long way away? Things will settle once the playoffs are over and the actual rumors start not these fantasy trades.

Haha some of you should probably calm down a bit. It's just a discussion. That is what we do here isn't it?
Other than FanIn80 saying he was a little worried about Johnnys ability to handle the rigours of playoff hockey, nobody is down on JG. He even back tracked when he realized his quick idea he thought up might be great for the team in the long run.
All anybody else really said was that if he did get traded it would have to be for a HUGE return or forget about it, or that they don't care who the Flames trade as long as it makes the team better now and in the future.

Schenn/Simmonds
Travis Konecny
Schenn/Simmonds - Monahan - Patrick/Hischier
Tkachuk - Bennett - Konecny
Ferland - Backlund - Frolik
Hathaway - Jankowski - Lazar
That is probably a better lineup than we have right now. Not as offensively potent as the lineup with Gaudreau, but that team would really suck to play against.

I would do this, Philly probably doesn't.

Inconsistent AHL goalie is better then a guy who's played 86 NHL games with career .914 sv %? Despite how awful the Avs were, Gillies AHL numbers are barely better then Pickard's NHL numbers from last season.
Then you wonder why people mock you and your opinions.
