I used to think there was a troll living under a tiny footbridge on our farm. Was scared to death of that thing.

I watched Rocketeer as a kid and was convinced that it wasn't going to be long until we all had rocket packs we could fly around with.

Growing up on a farm, with limited TV exposure as a kid, I can literally vividly remember the first time I ever met a black person. I couldn't understand why her hands were lighter on the inside and black on the outside. I was convinced they were dyed and that part was rubbing off. Seemed logical at the time, and considering hands were at head height I am guessing I was 4-5 years old.

I also thought that men with beer bellies were pregnant.

I used to think my parents were super humans who could do no wrong and knew everything.

You could imagine my surprise a few years ago when I learned that they're even more screwed up and irresponsible than I am.

My grandparents were Slovaks. They spoke to me in Slovak only. I thought that when you got old, you spoke Slovak - LOL.

My brother (9 years my senior) and his friend removed all my toys from my sandbox one day and levelled it off. Then they dug a trench line through it and strategically placed my green army men all over the place. My brother emerged from the garage holding a jug of something that had a bit of a pink hue. I asked him what it was, to which he replied "fruit punch". He filled the trenches with gasoline and set the whole thing ablaze. Brave plastic men and women slowly melted in the fire. Quite a sight to see.

I firmly believed fruit punch was dangerously flammable until I was about 10.

I used to think that Arkansas was actually pronounced Ar-Kansas. It made sense, you had Kansas and Ar-Kansas. I argued this to the ends of the earth with anyone who would listen, and was mortified when I found out I was wrong.

I used to believe because Ontario was the most populated province it would have to be the largest by size, so I believed the NWT was where Ontario was, I was really shocked to see I was wrong and was so far east, I really thought Ontario was above Alberta.

I used to believe that fog was created by thousands of frogs farting.
My mom used to tell me if you picked your nose your head would cave in.
I used to believe Knight Rider was real and someday I would take over the role of Michael Knight and thus have access to KITT who was also real.

My uncle used to torment us saying that if he unscrewed our belly buttons, our butts would fall off. Hours he spent chasing us, us with our hands under our butts until we would cry and he would laugh.
