Cool, thanks for the update. It sounds like Keith Carradine (Agent Lundy) will be appearing too. His interaction with Debra should bring some awesome awkwardness.

Wow, and I had heard it was starting May 31st. Never believe internet rumours I guess. That's a massive dissappointment.

Wow, I've never watched the show but I'm a huge John Lithgow fan.
I'll definitely be tuning in now. Hopefully I'll like what I see enough to invest in the first three seasons.

Any bets Dexter kills Lithgow? Dexter might be fascinated but he doesn't like competition.
Best show ever! |

Ha ha... ya True Blood is very entertaining. But for the life of me I can't figure out what the heck it's about... an allegory on gay rights? a metaphor for living with illness? just straight-up vampire pulp fiction?

and yeah, the intro tune kicks major ass.

Can't wait for Dexter season 4. I didn't totally love season 3 the way I did the first two seasons. I found it a little predictable.. but it was still good. I'm sure season 4 will be back to it's diabolic genius!

I feel the same way, Season 3 just wasn't as great as the first 2, I'm hoping it is a good one.

True Blood starts so soon, another season for me to have the intro stuck in my head.

I just don't see their relationship as being based on anything real. He cannot explain his true self to her, so how can it be emotionally satisfying? What exactly is it about her that inspires him to such torments of the soul? I just think she is an uninteresting and vapid character and find the idea of obsessing over her bland suburban charms laughable considering what Dexter is - a man who lives an intense, complex private life that requires hugely violent stimuli to make him feel anything at all.

Interesting take Jammies...

I'm on board with you... I think that in the beginning (and perhaps still), Dexter is actually invested in her kids more than her. That does seem to have changed in season 3 though.

His affinity for the kids is demonstrative of the nature side of the nature/nurture debate the show is premised on. What keeps bubbling up in his actions is paradoxically not his repressed homicidal being, but rather his 'normalcy' (manifest through his desire to protect innocent children, for example).

I actually think that what the end result will be is that he realizes he's fundamentally a normal dude who was turned into a monster by Harry (or at least guided in that direction). It's not that he's a monster that was tempered by the code of Harry, as Dexter as fallible narrator would have you believe, but rather the other way around. He's actually a normal dude who is struggling to repress his normalcy through the guise of being a homicidal maniac... I think.

Add the 5th season of Weeds to your list. Starting June 8th. Can't wait!

As for Dexter , I really hope they will go back to "kills because he has the urge to kill" and "tries to fight this urge and struggles to live a normal life" rather than "cleverly kills off criminals simply because they are criminals."

I thought those two things were kinda inseparable to Dexter . He has the urge to kill. He was taught to kill criminals because they're criminals as an outlet to that need rather than letting the urge build until it exploded on an innocent victim.

I guess I don't see where the show departed from that.

I hope there are a lot more kill scenes in Season 4 than Season 3. It's going to be interesting how the writers deal with Debra digging into her father's and Dexter 's past and the new child on the way.

This is what I've always thought the premiss of the show was as well. Dexter always talks about being a sociopath, but then goes on to have genuine feelings for his sister, Rita, her children, his father, his co-workers etc...

I think a lot of what he confuses for sociopathy is just akwardness. The guy is hyper-intelligent and a massive science geek. Of course he is going to be a little akward.

Yeah I get that, I guess what I was saying is that I didn't really see a guy with the urge to kill. All I saw was a guy on a quest to free Miami from criminals who slipped throught the fingers of justice. They died because their crime went unpunished, not because Dexter needed his fix.
