I feel your pain in the sense that you make an entirely innocent, unrelated comment and someone takes it completely out of context and adds a completely unrelated angle to it. I guess it’s the nature of the world these days.
Meh; it was a boneheaded, knee-jerk reaction to a crappy throw-away quip. The adding of an element that didn't even exist in the original joke was certainly a bewildering choice to make.

Swap Canada for anything in the same sentence too. What a uselessly negative outlook. People don’t seem to recognize the real negative impact on your own mind when you constantly state that.

It's funny, now that I think about it, the two most vocal people that I know with the "Canada is broken" rhetoric are also the two most successful people that i know. Business owners, nice houses, nice vehicles, toys (boats, atvs, snowmobiles, etc.), both have really spoiled children, frequent and epic holidays....
