I don't want to trade with the Habs. Seems like they fleece most teams they trade with. I'm not confident we would get good value trading Ras and Kadri to them.

I agree the wizard would never make a bad trade that hurts his team.

You knew it was fake when our insiders said it isn't happening. Well, that and the return seemed very dumb. I have no doubt Brad offered that, but Conroy would decline.

Any thoughts on Kent Johnson in Columbus? He was a healthy scratch on Tuesday and then received 3rd line minutes last night. Johnson had 57 points in 68 games last season. He turned 23 last month. Seems to have a lot of runway in front of him.

I like the player, but there are reasons he has been in the doghouse at various times in his career since he came in to the league. While he’s great with the puck, and smart offensively, he is also not always so great without the puck, not always engaged, and kinda soft. I would still take him in a second, but he’s got things to work on.

We have Igor already. No more soft, uninspired, one dimensional players needed.

Bit of a nothingburger but Lebrun adding to the topic of Coleman’s availability, or potential availability. Sounds like several teams have interest.

I fully disagree, especially with keeping a grudge, owners would be pretty pissed if we helped Tre.
Same as in conference or a rival has to pay more.

Yeah but… by basically slightly breaking a tie. Of course they need to offer more IF there are equivalent offers on the table from other teams. But, it’s minimal. They’re still taking the better assets instead of holding a grudge.

If it costs more in trading with a rival, doesn’t that cut both ways?
So, in a trade between Calgary and Edmonton, aren’t both teams looking for more?

The main problem is that Toronto is 500K from the cap, and that they really do not have much prospect depth. Their best is Cowan, who projects as a.... Coleman basically. Nothing wrong with that. Their next available 1st is 2028, which loses some value based on how far away it is.
The only way I can see is a swap of problem children. Sharon in Calgary is permanently in the doghouse. That contract looks good in the top line, but fourth line or scratch and it's ugly. Likewise Brandon Carlo has not filled the role they were hoping for in Toronto, which is why they like Ras. Poor little Jarnkrok is stuck on the fourth line and is UFA. So, how you make the trade work, with money and value.
From Toronto
Easton Cowan
2028 1st (top five protected) or 2027 2nd
Brandon Carlo
Calle Jarnkrok
From Calgary
Rasmus Andersson (50% retained)
William Stromgren (needs a new home badly)
Yegor Sharongovich
I think that could be sold to both bases.
|
Dumping Sharangovich would make me very happy.

I feel like we’re giving up too much.
Don’t need Jarnkrok for 6 more years.
Strongren is better on our farm team than theirs.
Insiders say that Sharky is very tradable because teams know he can score and will think they can get him back to that.
Carlo is the dump I guess, but meh.

Who is saying Sharangovich is tradeable? Would love to get out of that deal.

Do you really think sending GMBT Ras on an over pay is helping him? LOL
That’s an anchor not a life preserver that will completely deplete GMBT’s trade currency for the rest of this Leafs contention window. Ras will then leave and Leafs will have the same problem they started with.
We’ll all see how over-rated Ras is when he leaves.

2025/2026 Season Trade Rumours and Speculation Thread
I don’t have X or Twitter but my son relayed this to me. Apparently from some Leafs reporter.
“Leafs acquire: Andersson(with a 8-10 million dollar extension), Kadri some salary retained and possibly and maybe Zary
Flames acquire: Brandon Carlo, Matthew Knies and either the 2028 1st round pick or a 2nd round pick”
Cap dump to take on Kadri and Andersson contracts
Because Brad Treliving is dead set on Andersson being the defence man Toronto has been missing and also loved Kadri that’s why he went hard after him in free agency.
He clearly had a vision in Calgary and wants to sprinkle it in with the Leafs. Toronto also doesn’t have any 1st round picks this year or next so he had to throw in something valuable to bring that vision to Toronto. Plus Treliving did the same thing with Sam Bennett too didn’t see him as a fit so traded him
Kadri and Andersson are both a first round pick each.
Taking a hefty contract for a struggling defenceman from Toronto in Carlo is also added value in the Flames favour.
Toronto doesn’t have any high picks
So they’ll have to trade a young guy who can score like Knies to get both Kadri and Andersson benefits both teams really. Calgary needs scoring and we’re also interested in Carlo this past free agency I believe. They can afford the contract moving the two
Like I said. I don’t have X just relaying what my kid told me

I would do that if the 2028 is unprotected, look where Vegas is right now, worth the gamble if it pays off
