Default Canker Sore Remedies?

So I've sliced that useless piece of skin flap that spans from the inside of the upper lip to the gums. It's been hurting like a bitch for days now and not looking like it wants to heal on it's own. Can anyone suggest something a)to take the pain away and b)that will make it heal as fast as super humanly possible?

k thx.

I gargle salt water or listerine

listerine is painful at first and then it numbs.

Listerine is a good one...dequadin and orabase are good salves/'paints' to cover it and also numbs it down.
A really counterintuitive way to have it heal up fast? A diluted iodine solution...had an old family doctor proscribe this when I was a kid...hurts like a bitch but it definitely helped the healing.

Something cool to eat/drink.

I'm Asian so my remedies are soy bean milk, tofu or tapioca.
Or even bubble tea!

Helps get rid of acne too

Tea Tree Oil - A drop before you go to bed and in most cases it is cleared before you wake up.

That or garglling with baking soda and water every 20 mins.

I used to have an incredibly hard time with canker sores, the best rinse is a red mouthwash call Steri/Sol, it is excellent and you can buy it any any drugstore. Just rinse for a minute, twice and you will find significant improvment. Believe me.

I usually put baking soda on them...it's something my mom always told me to do. To be honest, I really have no idea if it works at all, but as soon as I get one, on goes the baking soda.

I had this problem a week ago. technically there is no real cure. But all the rinsing, listerine, baking soda, etc will help keep the sore clean (maybe helps healing). while things like tea tree oil and other remedies are there to help numb the feeling out, thus preventing you from tonguing the out of it.

I did listerine and tried to drink lotsa water, cured in 3ish days

FATA

And yes there is a remedy. You have to necrotize the tissue.

What you are suffering from is actually called Recurrent Aphthous Stomatitis

Use a product called ORAL MEDIC. None of the other stuff works. This is brand new to the market and only recently available in Canada and Europe only. I did a lot of research to find an equivalent to what medical proffessionals are liscensed to use (DEBACTEROL which I used to have to beg dentists to give me some to take home) and this is the best for consumer use.
http://www.oralmedic.co.uk/

It's not yet even legal in the U.S. because of FDA issues but you can get it in Canada (for once we win) if you ask your pharmacist to order it for you. This is like the stuff that Dentists sometimes have that costs hundreds. It's something like $9.99 (I got the Medicine Shoppe to order it for me) and you get three applications. What you call canker sores are actually aphthous ulcers which are auto-immune problems and they don't heal because your body for some reason mistakes it for an infection and attacks the healing tissue with white blood cells in your mouth. Thats why they take weeks and months to close up sometimes. Oral Medic cauterizes the area completely and your inner mouth starts healing right away.

There are a lot of people who get sores after the skin is broken in their mouths. Right after your realize you've bitten yourself, wash out with mouthwash ASAP.

If you want to research put in HYBENX or DEBACTEROL in Google. All the other canker sore treatments out there are simply snake oil or anesthizing agents to block the pain but not solve the problem. It's basically an acid solution that cauterizes the entire area which immediately seals up the wound by necrotizing all the tissue (including nerve endings) so the pain is gone and the would is sealed (over what used to be an open and unhealing sore/aphthous ulcer) so your immune system stops attacking it and the body can heal it the proper way.

Ok, seeing as you've now said this twice, do you have anything to back this up? Or are you calling other people (myself included) liers?

Do you find your solution works- great. You are more than welcome to express a preferance. But there is no need to make claims that "none of the other stuff works" when I can tell you for sure that the option I presented in the other thread works.

The other stuff is usually just herbal stuff - which I firmly believe is all bunk anyway in most cases and especially here when dealing with trying to heal AN OPEN WOUND IN YOUR MOUTH Or anasthetics that numb the pain temporarily. They don't treat the actual problem. I'm no doctor but I don't see how a herbal solution or a pain-killer can fight an auto-immune disorder or a virus (cold sores).

I have to warn you guys, this stuff hurts real bad. It's basically a sulphuric acid based solution and you tab it on the inside of mouth and burn the sucker away...but basically it's like having instant surgery to cut out the problem instead of rubbing echinacea into it or drinking lots of booze (also works to numb the pain).

I've been dealing with these all my lives because I have weak health and a little stress causes these things to erupt like craters on mars...and I'm clumsy as hell and I have been biting my own mouth accidentally since I was a kid. I've tried everything available in drugs stores and even folk chinese remedies. Oral-Medic is the only thing that has worked.

Alright what is this about Acid?? I just bought OralMedic, the pharmacist recommended it as well. I'm paying $12.99 to burn an infected piece of skin out of my mouth?

Give me a few pointers....

Turns out H&L knows what he's talking about. 10 minutes after I did it the irritation is pretty much completely gone. Didn't even hurt much. Wow.

Glad to hear it. Sometimes if you don't apply enough and completely cauterize it, there will be a little bit left and it may come back in a few days after the dead skin peels off so make sure you get the whole area since it is pretty expensive at $10-$13 for 3 applications.
