Dire warning from nuclear energy critic

Liberal and NDP officials have already expressed their discomfort over bringing nuclear energy to Alberta, and Edwards supported their views.
"Nuclear power is like a lobster trap - it's easy to get in, but impossible to get out," Edwards said.

What do you do with nucular waste? Does it ever go to normal? OR do you have to store it forever?

Just pack it onto the space shuttle and shoot the crap into outer space. Just hope the shuttle doesn't explode in the atmosphere.
Course it never a good idea having nukes roam around space. See Superman 4. hehe

Wouldn't it take 15 years before a plant could be up and running if construction started today?
Don't you think we could have better waste solutions by then?
This short-sighted attitude toward nuclear power, which is IMO the future....is ridiculous.

I'm not sure that we need this plant. I'm not sure that we don't need this plant either.
but isn't over caution the best policy with nuclear stuff?

It seems to me it would be easier to figure out what to do with a bunch of junk in the ground down the road because you know where you left it as compared to dealing with a bunch of junk in the air that's disperesed across the planet down the road.
I really can't imagine many worse forms of power generation than coal.

Because every place that have had nuclear power for decades is a radioactive waste dump now.
What is this guy's alternative?
And I like how he says France is phasing out their nuclear program; they get 80% of their electricity from nuclear power... Even Sweden gets 20%, they want to be nuclear free but I'd be suprised if it happened before I got false teeth.

Didn't France just build a bunch of reactors in recent history to power their train systems? Even in Switzerland I spotted a cooling tower or two from the electric trains. Nuclear powered trains rule, way better than our rolling Diesel AC generators.

Well Edmonton's not far off from being a radioactive waste dump as it is already so I dont see it as much of a loss....
