Hm, static HTML hosted at layeredtech running apache.. hacking it to contain scientific information might be difficult.

I'm heading up to the Creation Museum in Big Valley for a fieldtrip with some friends. Should be a bit of fun.

One guy in the office here said we should go, take detailed pictures of everything, and then put up a website that gives the real science to every display they have.. then get it to be the first result in Google when searching for the museum. Or print flyers and put them on windshields and hand them out as people go in

Default Creationism museum opens in Alta.

Quote:
BIG VALLEY, Alta. (CP) — A new creationism museum that paints itself as the scientific counterpoint to Canada‘s world-renowned Tyrell dinosaur museum opened Tuesday in Alberta.

Owner Harry Nibourg and others who helped put together the Big Valley Creation Science Museum say they hope it will help convince skeptics that their belief in a literal interpretation of the Bible — complete with massive flood, dinosaurs walking the earth side-by-side with humans and a seven-day plan only 6,000 years ago to get it all started — is based on scientific fact rather than blind faith.

I would like to go....just to see the artifacts and hard evidence that most real museums have!

Just noticed the other thread, although I didn't really want to wade through 217 posts to get to it.

I think the existence of this "museum" proves that human evolution has stopped. If someone, or rather a group of people, have brains that are defective enough to believe the biblical creation story, there's no way that they could have survived to adulthood under a "survival of the fittest" situation.

So it looks like he's unmarried and in the oilpatch. And this is his little hobby. Probably better than meth and hookers.

I want to go pull a Margaret Thatcher. Walk up to the front desk, pull out a copy of "The Selfish Gene" and slam it down on the wood and shout, "THIS IS WHAT WE BELIEVE!"

I wish people would just not go.

No publicity, no visitors, and no revenue would be the best way to see something like this disappear. Don't even give it the appearance of legitimacy.

“Evolution is not a science — please, please don‘t call it a science,” Nibourg said as he walked through the one-room museum he has spent years and hundreds of thousands of dollars bringing into existence.
This guy has little concept as to what the word science means. If he did, he wouldn't have opened a creation museum. Science is a process. A process that involves hypothesis's, then strict testing of that hypothesis repeatedly and then arriving a theory. A theory that is open to other scientific criticism and support. Science is always growing, moving and changing. Evolution is a fantastic example of science that has massive evidence behind it. There is NO science in creationism.
Quote:
The red walls are crammed with evidence he said was put together by hundreds of well-educated scientists. Dinosaur footprints lead along the floor, and a massive painted model of a dinosaur hangs suspended above the entrance.
I would be interested to see what their evidence for Dinosaur's is. A cryptic verse from the scripture is far from evidence.

Quote:
Exhibits include photographs that show human footprint fossils side-by-side with dinosaur prints, rocks whose patterns he said show evidence of a massive flood and displays that explain how DNA is far too perfect to have been designed by chance.
For anyone who doesn't know, the Grand Canyon was craved in a matter of days according to the creationists. I'd also like to refute the DNA statement, but that is a rather long retort, which would be a waste of time anyways because the logic behind their thinking is very flawed and devoid of modern knowledge.

Quote:
Also displayed is evidence to refute that of people Nibourg calls “evolutionists,” including fossils and present-day animals that are identical, ruling out any type of adaptation.
Classic fallacy. Poking holes or disproving one theory is not evidence that your theory is correct (Not that he has disproven any evolutionary theory). This is throwing out the whole process of science in favour of religious beliefs.

Creationism (in this case) Intelligent Design is all religious. There is no science involved. It is merely poor logic and an ignorant scientific outlook. I have no problem if you want to believe that the earth is 6000 years old, but you should not be promoting it as science or fact. Science is all about challenging other science, but you have to back it up with science, not junk like this.

.This is the only problem I have with this…if this guy wants to build this museum in the name of creationism fine that is his right his ideology and if he feels so passionately about it that he wants to try and share this belief to the public fine I have no problem with that who am I to tell him he is wrong? I don’t have the answers…I don’t agree with him but I listen to what he has to say and make my own decision

But with that ignorant statement he has lost a lot of credibility…he should understand that people believe in evolution that is there belief and there ideology and he should learn to respect it…if someone wants to believe in evolution as a fact that is there right who is he to tell them that they are wrong? Just because it contradicts your beliefs doesn’t mean you have right to not discard it as false
