Flames Scotia Place Update

Not sure if there will be any real news out of this, but there is a season ticket holder event tonight called “Journey to Scotia Place”.

Any CPers here can provide the details as they become available.

O.K. there has been a lot of talk on whether or not MacTavish has actually done a good job for us, most fans on this board are very basic in their analysis and I feel would change their opinion entirely if the team was successful.

This sounds like an expansion pack to 'The Oregon Trail.'

Some alumni doing a hot stove. Conroy, Warrener, Macoun, Patterson and Stajan.

Chatting about 2004 memories.

Stajan chatting about Johnny and Sean in 2015.

COO talked about how they have looked at how other teams have moved to new buildings in terms of allocations of season tickets. No specific info on how allocations will work. Maybe will learn more in the Q and A.

Re the hockey amenities planned for the new building Conroy mentioned there will be more washers and dryers.

That’s some high priced interior design right there.

Building:
- washrooms are a heavy focus, but if the building is packed there will be lines during intermission
-envy of the sporting world in discussions with other big 4 teams
-team will tour the "hole" Wednesday and get a feel where everything will be
-Conroy said a lot of opposition players are asking as they didn't believe it was actually happening (new building) since it was cancelled so often
-will be state of the art in all aspects, major contributor to free agents in future

Hockey:

-wishes he had the players to trade this draft vs last as prices were higher this year
-wanted to use cap but not as many trades required it
-Bahl is even better than they thought he would be
-if available players this draft are ranked close when picking will lean to C over D
-will approach free agents and go after the big fish if they are a fit and willing to come to Calgary, but specifically said they are all slowly getting signed (likely referring to Rantanen), will spend to the cap if it makes sense

Will add as I remember more.

-building will have 8 Elevators, 2 in each corner and 2 escalators.
-walk in to main concourse and then down the 28 rows of lower bowl.
-upper concourse enters second level in the middle so you have 5-6 rows up or down to travel
-Flames corporate suites are currently sold out for Saddledome
-talked about a "defend the endzone" behind the nets for fan experience and intimidation
-will try and incorporate some similar things form the Dome, and add new things (Fire will always be at our arenas for goals etc.)
-will have a tribute over multiple games to the Dome in the last season highlighting long term staff, memories etc.
-Flames STH membership will get some sort of points or discounts at yet to be announced local retailers etc.
-specifically mentioned excited to be able to host "A" level concerts for the first time in 25 years
-new clothing partnerships with LuLu Lemon and OVO coming
-will have food and beverage at all price-points to be more inclusive
-90% of food will be cooked on site at concessions vs central kitchen now for freshness and more options

-red carpet walk will be back opening night next season, players loved it as much as the fans
-jersey off the players back will be back at the end of this year as well (April 13 I believe)

-credited Wolf and Vladar becoming great teammates. Started the year both wanting the net, but grew together and help each other
-also said the leadership group (6 Vets, didn't mention names) basically willed this team and proved the doubters wrong and the young guys have fed off and now carried that momentum

Stolen from Reddit.

Quote:
Designers want the arena to be loud and intimidating. The Seattle Seahawks Lumen Field of the NHL - Seats will be built more vertically to create more noise

Men, Women’s, flex bathroom. Flex bathroom will change based on event type

Ticket prices will increase an unknown amount between now and the first year of the arena

Concessions stands will have individual kitchens for cooking instead of a central kitchen

No stairs for the entrance. Walk in along the ground. Lower bowl below ground. Upper bowl above ground

Lower bowl will be twice as large as Saddledome. Suites will overhang

actual Saddledome seats may be able to be purchased after the Dome has played its final game. Something CSEC has to work out with the Saddledome foundation but will look into
Flex bathrooms is a good idea for concerts.

It was because he was envious Edmonton had 8 washers and 6 dryers or something vs the 2 and 2 we currently have, just showing how much better everything will be. Also mentioned the specific soccer kickaround room, family lounge etc. as they don't have the capacity currently for this

Making sure players around the league know the world class facility is under construction is a big one

Man, I hope they sell the Dome seats. I’d love to purchase my dads old seats in section 210. Must have gone to hundreds of games with him over 20 years, and I went on one of my first dates with my wife to them as well. He gave them up in 2019 as his health deteriorated and died a year later. We’re not the season ticket holders of those seats anymore so probably don’t have first dibs but it would be a pretty cool keepsake to be able to buy them.
