Edmonton at Calgary

Calgary and Edmonton enter the contest tied for second in the Pacific with 10 points behind the Vegas Golden Knights. However, due to a strange scheduling quirk, the Flames have played a Pacific Division-low six games so far this season -- three fewer than Vegas (after it hosts Anaheim on Friday), and two fewer than Edmonton -- and are in the middle of a stretch of two games in nine days.


Flames' Markstrom deserves shot at Battle of Alberta redemption

It’s Jacob Markstrom’s net.

Dan Vladar simply borrows it.

However, when these two teams met in Edmonton two weeks earlier, Darryl Sutter shocked many by starting Vladar in the team’s second game of the season.

Was he shielding Markstrom from a team that torched the Vezina finalist all season long, including the playoffs?

Not so, insisted the coach, who spelled out his plan to play Vladar at least once in all 26 weeks of the season.

The Edmonton Oilers will look to complete their three-game road trip with a perfect record as they travel to Calgary to take on the Flames on Saturday night.
1. The Flames are off to a very hot start this season, as they’ve taken advantage of a plum schedule with five wins in their first six games. Calgary is opening up its season with nine of ten games at home and no back-to-backs until they hit the road in November.

If you asked me yesterday if I could think any lower of the fanbase up north I would've said no. After watching the fight in the stands at the Oilers game that went viral last night I've realized that bar can never be set too low.

Is it fitness consciousness? Or, moreso, that people are very concerned that their demons are terribly out of shape?
