Default Geocaching

I was talking to my neighbour's son and he was telling about geocaching.

He has an app on his phone which is a world wide app (I can't recall the name of it).

So does anyone do geocaching?

Does anyone have a suggestion for an app for the iPhone?

My daughter and I were speaking about it and she interested in trying it.

Cheers

Nothing useful to add other than a story.

I live in a small town and earlier this summer, there were police all over town decked out in full bomb squad protection gear. They had a ravine barricaded off and were going down with ropes. I assumed at the time that they were doing a training exercise.

It turns out that someone was geocaching and the "prize" that was hidden in the ravine was a grenade. It was an inactive antique, but I guess enough of a concern at the time.

/cool story bro

I've planted a couple caches with the kids. It's a great way to get them off the couch.
Ask them to go Hiking and they say no, ask them to go Geocaching and it's yes.

I highly recommend you give it a try. It can be a lot of fun.

Have done it a couple times. My wife wanted to go hiking and I decided to look into it.
I now usually try and upload some near where we are travelling so we can go for a tour if we need to get away from family.
The best part about it is that only locals can hide one (as they need to be able to maintain it), and most times they are hidden in neat/cool areas that only locals know. So you end up finding neat views/spaces/caves/ruins/etc that you wouldn't know otherwise. I did this in Barbados and it was great. Spent a day traversing the island finding neat beaches, old churches, and historic buildings long forgotten.
