Coincidence something so shoddily built was found near a building called the Rexall Centre..... wonder if Katz was involved in building this too.

I wonder why they didn't just monitor it and see if anyone is still working on it or using it

I wondered the same thing, but apparently when the workers found it, they spread the news faster than the police could stop it.

Very weird, and it sounds like it was pretty professionally built.

Wonder if someone was thinking sex dungeon.

This has to be some old construction project that some city hall guy has forgotten about. How would you discretely get away with this? The huge piles of dirt you'd need to dispose of would be enough to get you caught.

Although you would think that they would have removed the generator at least.

Apparently they found it 5 weeks ago.

So, this picture is making the rounds on Twitter. Is this the actual headline? If so, what the actual ####?

Anyone think that making the announcement today - the same day Bill C-51 is up for second reading - is just a coincidence?

Love the National Post for taking the logical route on their headline

York University has an engineering school, but not one with the pranking history of other Canadian institutions. It is also well-known for its sometimes radical student activism. However, no student link has been drawn at this time.
This is my favourite quote. The first thing I thought of when seeing the article was I bet it is just some Engineering prank. That appears to have been ruled out.

At the risk of invoking the "This looks shopped" meme, this looks shopped. The middle part of the paper looks relatively crisp compared to the heavier pixelation on the top and bottom parts, which suggests that they were photoshopped onto an existing newspaper. But mostly, because the 649 ad seems to have the blurred out word 'September'.

Plus there's tv listings for Sun News Network which is now defunct.

Yes. I doubt Toronto police much care about the goings on of Parliament.

Looks like they found the guys, interviewed them, and deemed no criminal charges were required, as they had no criminal intent and were simply digging it "for personal reasons".

Toronto Police won't elaborate on what the "personal reasons" were, but I'd have to imagine it would probably be some sort of religious/shrine sort of thing to warrant no charges at all for such a high profile thing.

I was thinking doomsdayers or survivalists.

It's a little annoying that they made such a big deal about it and then aren't bothering with an actual explanation.
