Mods Move to OT board please: A (small) portion of this board loves to hate on the US
It's really something I never noticed til recently. It makes me wonder how many people on this board have actually been to the US. Most Americans don't have this arrogance that is being depicted on this board by some. Sure there are some ignorant morons that do, but overall Americans might say that they live in the greatest country, but they don't think that it is actually better than everywhere else. It's called pride. The most absurd thing I read is that Americans don't like multiculturalism, but like everyone else to blend together. I don't even know where to start on that one. I don't mind the odd crack about the US and I will even make some myself, but it's being getting a bit ridiculous on here lately. I've responded with (I thought) obvious tongue in cheek posts about the US being better than everyone else and have received some good replies, but also ones that perplexed me. Anyways, just an observation. Carry on!

Maybe it's because some Americans say stuff like this.

Have you been to the Stampede? Don't shoot!

Bashing America is all in good fun. Don't act like Americans don't bash Canadians (and many other countries in the world). I think the difference now is America is on a downslide and Canada is going the other way. No doubt there's a little jealously that "America's Hat" and "The Little Brother" is doing a whole lot better now.

You just stated in the bolder part why not every poster here is going to share the same opinion. If a small percentage of Americans are ignorant don't you think it would only make sence that a "(small) portion" of posters would be too?

I can honestly say I've never heard that term in my life. When I wanna use a stupid term to describe Americans, I go with the Ms. Teen South Carolina and call them US Americans.

Kind of weird, is it something you do at your 10 year mark or something? Like a mid-life crisis for msg board posting.

Actually not at all. Maybe it is just because of the Olympics as someone pointed out but is actually something that has been a lot more common around here. And if you thought my posts that you quoted above were serious maybe you should get out your sarcasm meter.

Those posts were in response to people being upset about the Canada-America womans soccer match. You were being a big trolling baby.

Ah, so yours were light-hearted, jovial and tongue-in-cheek while we are mean spirited and hurtful.
Id start assuming that others' comments are in the same text as your own for the most part

Actually the first one wasn't in that thread. Secondly I didn't care that people were upset about the US win. In fact I did nothing to rub in the US victory over Canada when it happened because Canada did actually get screwed. I posted that in response to comments about the US being arrogant.

I don't mind jokes. You can make all the jokes about the US that you want. I'm not referring to those. I am referring to actual serious statements. And my post isn't a cry to stop, it's just bewilderment that these beliefs are actually held.
