Default Dual Monitor Question

So I am 99.9% sure I am getting a new Macbook (The new aluminum model) for Christmas. I currently have dual monitors on my current tower PC.

What I want is to use both monitors for the Macbook. I have done some research and I have come up with this:
1) I will need the Mini-DVI to VGA cable that apple sells. (not a problem)
2) I will need a external converter to support both monitors.

So I went online and ordered the Matrox DualHead2Go (http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/products/gxm/dh2go/) and I am getting mixed feeling on if this will work.

I know I might get people "Its a laptop, just use the screen provided" but I plan on getting rid of my PC completely and use this as my main computer. I want to have the convenience of working with 2 monitors at home and then just simply disconnect the monitor (mini DVI port), the speakers, and the power.

The thing that I am worried about is it seems that this will just extend my desktop and I will technically have 3 displays (2 monitors and the laptop display) which is not what I want. The way my desk is set up is I have room for the laptop to sit under my monitors stands that would fit perfectly kind of like a docking stations would be. So do you think this set up would if I simply just close the laptop and it will adjust to only use 2 monitors? Any recommendations would be good as well (except smart ass windows lovers simply saying "Don't get a Mac")

Yeah, just close the book while it is on, and it will default to the monitor output when you plug in the external dvi. Also, having a usb hub will come in handy for your keyboard/mice usuage.

Also, don't get a mac unless you're willing to overpay.

The good part is since I am 99.9% sure I am getting a Mac, I asked for a wireless apple keyboard and mouse from my girlfriends family so I should have that covered

Also I guess its good to have a birthday close to Christmas for "late" bday gifts.

Most people assume that. Its actually 2 buttons, that's just the design.

Does Apple sell port replicators or docking stations for Notebooks?

i ahve used the Matrox on XP machines, works no problem for non gaming applications.

Oh I understand there are technically 2 buttons. I just dont understand wanting an actual Mac mouse over a 2 button mouse w/ scroll wheel ie. VX Revolution

Well there is a scroll wheel and its uses Bluetooth so with a regular wireless mouse and only 2 USB ports I would have to use 1 of them for the reciever

If there is a scroll wheel, then I take back my question. I have never seen a Mac mouse with a scroll wheel.
