Does the 30 number include Rooney, Kylington, and Pelletier?

4-7 more cuts then?

Sending down the AHL MVP-goalie the day after he got to sit on the bench and watch a rival team dump 7 goals on the veteran backup goalie kind of sends a message. Not much has changed?

I kinda figured Klapka would make it through to the final cuts (at least), or even make the roster. Looks like I at least got that one right, unlike predicting Honzek would work his way into at least an 8-game tryout in the regs.

Edit: Sucks about Wolf though. Hopefully it's because they couldn't make the space for him, rather than they wouldn't make the space for him.

Looks to me like maybe playing the waiver game. The other cuts will be players that need to go through waivers so they probably wait for the day all the teams start sending players down.

It does feel too early, but it makes sense though.

With Lindholm, Kadri, and Backlund all averaging 17-19 ATOI, there's no reason to have Zary picking up the remaining 5-9 ATOI of ice time instead of anchoring the first line of the Heat.

For sure in a simplistic world that doesn't take into account any other factors or variables!

I am surprised that Pospisil, Schwindt, and Pettersen outlasted Zary. Hard to see any of them being on the final roster though.

Solovyov seems to be the breakthrough player so far at camp, but he is probably still a dark horse to make the final cut over Oesterle, Gilbert, or DeSimone.

When all is said and done, it is looking more and more like Coronato may be the only rookie making the team right out of camp. Pelletier likely would have made it of course if not for the injury. Pretty underwhelming if all the talk about spots being open for rookies to take ends up not panning out.

The only message being sent is that he will be in the AHL when he's not playing in the NHL that night - at least until Vladar (or markstrom) is traded.

Nothing is preventing Wolf from playing as many games as the Flames want him to in the NHL, except for needing a roster spot and salary cap.

So maybe on nights the Flames want Wolf to start, another waiver inelligible player has to be sent down.

Oesterle over Solovyov is a tough one. I like both, but Solovyov cracking the lineup would be (as someone else here put) found money, and there's nothing at all wrong with finding some $$$ once in awhile.

It’s the right call for Zary and wolf. 1 preseason game left. Marky will be getting that start. Wolf was always starting season on wranglers . Zary showed great improvements . He’s better to get 1st line minutes with power play than be 12th/13th forward right now

I think going in we were assuming Coronato and Pelletier though weren't we?

The goalie log jam was known.
The blueline was pretty much set without a young guy pushing.

Zary could have pushed through, but really didn't.

Not sure it's all that different than what was expected with the Pelletier injury.

Considerably younger fourth line regardless.
