Gotta vote Kanzig. He's got a sliver of a chance to become a devastating NHLer so for that reason he gets my vote over the others.

Gilmour will be next. Possibly our most underrated D-man from several reports. I haven't seen enough of him to be sold though.

At this point I have no idea. I picked Mattson because his name sounds like an NHL player.

Kanzig, Karnaukhov and Ollas Mattson are the only guys left that interest me at all.

Elson has that Josh Jooris/Lance Bouma run through a wall thing going for him. At this point - he's my pick because of that.

I don't consider Billins or Wolf Flames prospects so I would never vote for them.

Of the remaining I would rank them as follows:

1. Gilmour - A bit underrated. Has been solid in Providence in his first 3 seasons.
2. Karnaukhov - Was inconsistent in his first year in the WHL, but has some skill and size. Has a chance to have a break out season if he's wants it bad enough.
3. Hathaway - Good size, but not much skill. If he makes it will be as a bottom 6 energy player.
4. Elson - If he makes the NHL it will be because of his high energy. Like Jooris.
5. Sieloff - Missed a lot of development time. Struggled to be a regular AHL defender last season.
6. Mattson - A defensive defenseman. Has the size but does he have the skill?
7. Kanzig - Huge but can he ever be a good enough skater to be in the NHL. Odds are he won't
8. Bruce - A Kanzig clone. Odds are very low he makes the NHL
9. Harrison - Disappointing college career so far.
10. Grant - Career AHLer
11. Deblouw - Disappointing college career. I don't expect this guy to be offered a contract.
12. Van Brabant - Good chance he get's Hanowskied after this season

I went Karnaukhov.

Love the Kanzig story and fingers crossed for him, but it seems like upside and impact are both in Karnaukhov's corner.

Karnaukhov - based on arguments made by others. I don't believe Kanzig will be good enough to make it as a pro. I know very little about he rest.

From what little I've seen of Kanzig he looked pretty good in his own end. The rest of his game I didn't pay attention to but I think he has some potential to play in the NHL so I voted for him.

I don't dislike Gilmour, although he's pretty small for a defenceman, or a few other choices but I really don't know much about them.

I went with kanzig. We're pretty far down the list so while he may be a longshot he could be a very effective weapon for us if everything goes right.

I have had high hopes for Kanzig since we drafted him. Judging by his improvement since then i think he may have the tools to get him self to the show one day. I wonder whether his 5 (or more) position drop in the rankings is fueled by the addition of great new prospects (though 4 above him last year are no longer in the organization) or indicative of something I'm not quite seeing

Went Ollas-Mattson. Kanzig can barely skate at the junior level, I just don't see him being able to skate at the NHL level.

What is your definition of "can barely skate at the junior level", when Lowry states he is one of the quicker guys?

Apparently, he has gotten even a bit faster since he was a Royal.

Laterally, yes, he does need some work. However, his size (and long stick) with proper positioning can allow him to be a useful 5-7D. If Lowry states he is one of the quicker guys on the team (straight-line), I will take his word. Seeing Kanzig on the Hitmen + camp affirms what Lowry was saying is indeed true. Kanzig is surprisingly quick - though he does need to work on his lateral movement and his first step.

IMO, Kanzig is a very impressive skater for his size - especially his size and his age. I find that over-sized prospects are typically slower than Kanzig is now, and take a long time (if ever) to become better skaters.

Didn't I hear something about Kanzig being one of the faster skaters in the Flames' prospect camp or something? I vaguely recall someone saying something about it.

Caged Great said Kanzig's skating has improved to the point that he is now interchangeable from the other defense prospects. It doesn't sound like a weakness anymore.
