Went with Spencer and Dergachyov. The big gritty 6'4" C is too hard to pass up @53.

I really wanted to go with some guys - Daniel Vladar, Thomas Schemitch, and Ken Appleby, but since those guys could be there @75 (lol, let's do round 3?) I went with Dergachyov and Spencer as well.

I picked Spencer and Other. The other being Vladislav Gavrikov. This guy was passed over last year but was voted best defenceman at the World Juniors. IIRC he was the defenceman paired with our Rafikov. Not a point producer but he's 6'3" and 205

Vladislav Gavrikov has excellent size and is not afraid to use it. He plays a very physical game, standing up zone entries at the line, punishing opponents who try to go wide on him, throwing plenty of hits in the corners, and clearing the front of the net. He plays excellent positional defense, maintaining good gap control and forcing attacker to the outside and away from key danger areas in his zone. Gavrikov is a willing shot blocker who is not afraid to get into shooting lanes, and uses his long stick to cut down on passing lanes. He proved to be particularly strong in the penalty kill when playing for the Russian national junior teams. To top it all off, he is a player who shows leadership on the ice and was rewarded by being named the captain of Team Russia, and the captain of his MHL club. Adding muscle over the last year was a big reason why he was so much better in board battles and clearing the net this season, and led to his breakthrough performance at the World Juniors.

JFK and Dergachyov. The Russian is a huge huge forward that is nearly impossible to knock off the puck. He isn't particularly fast, something that is common for someone his size, but he does have a lot of skill. He plays like a slower version of Kopitar. Even if he doesn't hit the higher end of his potential, he would be a big pain to play against as a 2nd/3rd line C/LW.

JFK has a lot of flash to his game. A ton of raw skill.

Many of the mocks I’ve seen have Dermott going in either the 2nd or 3rd round. Given that he brings the tools of a 1st rounder, getting him will be a steal. The team that manages to draft him becomes a winner on draft day. When you can play both ends of the ice and quarterback a power play, you will be good for a long time.

Despite it being a mock draft I find myself disappointed Pilon and Blackwood went back-to-back right before our two picks. Would have easily picked those two.

A defenceman named "Pilon" would be too easy to criticize.
