Who is this woman? and the idiot that follows her.
http://www.slide.com/r/ze0tjEuM6T9bm3pgFD1jIakthY7JorDk
I understand that this isnt the normal thought process of our American friends, but it just blows my mind that some people in the US actually think this way AND get a public forum like CNN and FOX to blast off on us.

You've never heard of Anne Coulter before?
She's hilariously funny if you don't take what she says seriously. Really, she has little support from the average American, but the media love her because she's a lightning rod for headlines.
And Tucker... well he's just an idiot.

MY favorite clip is definitely the one of John Stewart absolutely owning Tucker on Crossfire.

She is a dolt. Her opinion is utterly worthless. Very few Americans actually hold her extreme right wing view. The media love to bring her on for shock value. She never has anything of value to bring to the table. Tucker Carlson is also a right wing dolt. Both are extremely uninformed and hold an idiotic view of what they want America to be like.

Ann Coulter and Tucker Carlson have developed entire careers on attacking the Left in the US, and it's stretching past their borders now that the Right wing is left looking so unable to steer the ship down there. Hell, Ann Coulter was the person who said on live air, that she wanted to see John Edwards and his family killed. She also said everybody in the world should convert to Christianity, and that it would solve all the world's problems. Tucker Carlson on the otherhand is just a plain arrogant, insignifcant flapping head, who thought he could win a debate by attacking Canadians with stereotypes and low-brow comments. Seriously, the guy should not be talking. "Welcome to the new century." Are you kidding me? He wears a freaking bow tie.
I sense some blatant jealousy in both of these people. Obviously Canada would be hosed without the US, but in no way are we commited to them. When they start barking off with comments like "We should conquer them," or "They suck because they have French people," or "Canadians just dogsled all day," it really shows they really have no idea what they are talking about, or any real degree of world politics outside of what the good book says they should do, lead alone any factual knowledge of Canada and our foreign relations. They're left lashing their venemous tails out at whoever they can reach, and obviously are doing so as a far cry for attention.
I'll also see if I can dig up a screen cap of when Ann Coulter's website got hacked (twice,) a few weeks back. The hacker left quite a funny message.
Edit:
It's not a screen cap, but whatever. From: http://www.switched.com/2007/10/16/a...ebsite-hacked/

An Open Letter to Readers by Ann Coulter October 15, 2007 Dear Readers, I've been participating in a charade for nearly eleven years, now. Quite frankly, I'm sick of it. You have all been a part of a sick joke that I began considering shortly after first getting on the air. At first, it was quite interesting to see how people would react when I would use twisted logic and poorly masked bigotry. But eleven years is a long time to be living a fake life, and I can no longer tolerate this falsity. Even someone as fake as I tires out eventually. Here's the truth, I don't care what people believe. Jews don't need to be "made perfect" as I so arrogantly proclaimed to Editor & Publisher not a half week ago. I don't even care if people are Muslim. Granted, I don't know much about the religion or the people, but they are people. This is something that we cannot forget, they are in an abhorrent situation. These people are in need of education. Perhaps if we did not participate in causing them misery, they would not hate us so. In fact, does it really matter whether we are Christian, Jewish, Muslim, Atheist, or even Pagan? We are one nation. One. We should not let petty differences separate us, we are all American, and should act in that manner. And with that, my precious viewers, I bid you adieu. My career as a media figurehead is over. Signed, Ann Coulter P.S. - Oh, and Bill O'Reilly is also just acting. [From the hackers:] Haha, did it again. Oh, those silly web admins...they just embarrass themselves. (Admins, check for an e-mail address in the CMS. Find it. I know you will.)

I'm absolutely shocked that he found work after that fiasco.
Lifer: His show got cancelled the next day. Mere hours after Stewart left the studio. I laughed for days.
As for Coulter. This forum's filter prevents the accurate representation of that cow. She is as psycho witch as they come.
No, not many Americans believe a word she says, but a few do. Those few should probably be sterilized.
Her hysterical remarks are the only thing that keeps her in work. Shock value is the only value she brings. And even then its not much.
As for her opinions on Canada. She couldnt find Canada on a map if it was a map of Canada. This woman brings ignorant to a new level.

I'd rather such a statement did not come from right wing bigot like Coulter. It further stereotypes Albertans in the same mold.

Everything he says about being on a comedy network and things like that is obviously true, but it is also true the a large segment of American (and Canadian) culture gets its political news from The Daily Show. For that reason I think Carlson maybe had a decent point about Stewarts' interviews. That pales in comparison the the many more good points Stewart had about Crossfire. "Partisan Hacksmanship." Hilarious.
Still, a hilarious clip of Stewart pounding on a clown that is often in need of a verbal lashing.

I remember Crossfire was cancelled shortly after that incident, but didn't know it was the next day. Hilarious.
In fairness to Coulter, most U.S. Americans don't own maps. The ones who do spend most of their time searching for The Iraq, such as, education, such as, South Africa...

JS - How old are you?
TC - 35
JS - and you wear a bow tie. And I'm not saying that you're not a smart guy because those are very difficult to tie.
Ann Coulter and Tucker Carlsson have to be the biggest right winged idiots anywhere, anytime. It's because of people like this and their rhetoric that comedians like Jon Stewart will forever have a job.

John is fully aware how much impact his show has and how many people get information from it. And I am always disappointed when he has "important" guests on his show, and they get a free pass. Especially the ones that he rips on, on a daily basis. I understand why he doesn't do it. But it's still disappointing to watch. But with his show he has painted himself into a corner. It started off as very much about the jokes and more recently has been focusing on giving legitimate opinions about politics. It's a comedy show, a comedy show that barely fills a half hour segment. They don't get that serious about the issues. A good example of a comedy/serious news show, would be Bill Mahers show. Lot's of jokes and low brow humour, but also has semi-serious debates with guests with jokes scattered throughout. Also, if he starts trashing his guests and asking them the hard questions, people are going to stop coming on his show. To be honest, I am not sure if John could run a serious new show. I think he likes the comfort of being able to fall back on humour when he gets pressured.

Coulter is spinning her downfall as a new kind of terrorist-war McCarthyism. "People are hysterical about speech right now," she told The Washington Post's Howard Kurtz. "Everyone's comments are being taken out of context and wildly misinterpreted." At the risk of further de-contextualization, here are some of Coulter's past comments:
"[Clinton] masturbates in the sinks."--- Rivera Live 8/2/99
"God gave us the earth. We have dominion over the plants, the animals, the trees. God said, 'Earth is yours. Take it. Rape it. It's yours.'"--- Hannity & Colmes, 6/20/01
The "backbone of the Democratic Party" is a "typical fat, implacable welfare recipient"---syndicated column 10/29/99
To a disabled Vietnam vet: "People like you caused us to lose that war."---MSNBC
"Women like Pamela Harriman and Patricia Duff are basically Anna Nicole Smith from the waist down. Let's just call it for what it is. They're whores."---Salon.com 11/16/00
Juan Gonzales is "Cuba's answer to Joey Buttafuoco," a "miscreant," "sperm-donor," and a "poor man's Hugh Hefner."--- Rivera Live 5/1/00
On Princess Diana's death: "Her children knew she's sleeping with all these men. That just seems to me, it's the definition of 'not a good mother.' ... Is everyone just saying here that it's okay to ostentatiously have premarital sex in front of your children?"..."[Diana is] an ordinary and pathetic and confessional - I've never had bulimia! I've never had an affair! I've never had a divorce! So I don't think she's better than I am."---MSNBC 9/12/97
"I think there should be a literacy test and a poll tax for people to vote."--- Hannity & Colmes, 8/17/99
"I think [women] should be armed but should not [be allowed to] vote."--- Politically Incorrect, 2/26/01
"If you don't hate Clinton and the people who labored to keep him in office, you don't love your country."--- George, 7/99
"We're now at the point that it's beyond whether or not this guy is a horny hick. I really think it's a question of his mental stability. He really could be a lunatic. I think it is a rational question for Americans to ask whether their president is insane."---Equal Time
"It's enough [to be impeached] for the president to be a pervert."--- The Case Against Bill Clinton, Coulter's 1998 book.
"Clinton is in love with the erect penis."--- This Evening with Judith Regan, Fox News Channel 2/6/00
"I think we had enough laws about the turn-of-the-century. We don't need any more." Asked how far back would she go to repeal laws, she replied, "Well, before the New Deal...[The Emancipation Proclamation] would be a good start."--- Politically Incorrect 5/7/97
"If they have the one innocent person who has ever to be put to death this century out of over 7,000, you probably will get a good movie deal out of it."---MSNBC 7/27/97

I agree with that. He does a funny show and at the very least he gets a lot of young people, many of whom would otherwise be watching reruns of The Simpsons, critically thinking about the issues. I'm sure many of his viewers do make the extra effort to look into those issues in a more serious fashion too. I hadn't really considered that in my first post.
As for Maher, is he still only on HBO? I liked watching him on PI on CBS back in the day, but I can't find him on TV anymore. It's too bad. Oh well, he's on Larry King often enough.
