I'm not sure if any of you guys play or have been keeping track of the development but I read the developers blog available on IGN right now and am getting pretty excited.
It outlines two new features for NHL 08:
Create-a-play:
This allows you to take on player, skate down the ice to a position on the ice. You save it, grab another player and skate down the ice. Then a third, fourth, and your fifth. It allows you to create your own rushes (ie. two guys in front of the net/ dman pinching..etc.) and then execute whichever rush you "put together" during the game.
On the Fly AI:
This second one allows the AI to learn from you as you play, both offensively and defensively. Its outlined like this:
" Over the course of a game they will start to pick up on your tendencies and adjust accordingly to match their style of play to yours once you start to become predictable. For example, if you find continued success by passing for a one-timer in the slot on a 2-on-1 rush, the AI will adjust and start to take away the passing lane to eliminate the one-timer. Other examples include shutting down the point shot in-zone, stopping the cycle down low, taking away the half boards, etc. Again the AI starts to adjust when you are finding success and become predictable.
These AI adjustments will learn your tendencies not just during one game, but over the course of multiple games. Think about how this would work during the playoffs – the deeper you go into the playoffs, the harder it will be to win, because the CPU will already know how you play before the puck is dropped. "
Cool eh?
