Peter Good, designer of the Hartford Whalers’ Logo has died
Arguably the best sports logo ever designed. It was also the only sports logo he designed.

Sad news today out of Connecticut, where graphic designer Peter Good, who in 1979 created one of the uni-verse’s best and most popular logos for the Hartford Whalers, has passed away. His death was announced on Facebook last night by his family. The Facebook feed of his wife and business partner, Janet Cummings Good, indicates that he had been in hospice care for two weeks following the removal of a brain tumor. He was 80 years old.

For a awhile Midnapore minor hockey in Calgary used the logo upside down for "M"idnapore "H"ockey

The upside down whale tail looks like a pretty sweet duster. Would have been a wicked beer league logo. The Mindapiore Moustaches??

I have no idea if it's intentional or not either but the shape of the H also looks like two hockey sticks facing off over a puck.
