I saw the thread and thought Calgary made the trade. Wouldn’t have minded.

Me too.

This is about the level of Dman I expect Tre to acquire for depth if they do trade for one. Late round pick given up for a 6th/7th left shot Dman.

For a 6th? Sure, why not. He's purely for depth purposes.

Not suspect at all. Ekblad falls down in a weird looking collision, and crawls to the bench in agony. But will be back in round 1.

Really? You think Ekblad faked an injury in the name of cap space?

Time to take off the tinfoil hat

Brunette said yesterday that Ekblad was fine and that it looked worse than it was. He said he didn't expect him to be out long at all. This recent news seems to contradict what was said yesterday. I guess things can change and maybe they discovered it was worse than originally thought, but any time there is a contradiction, there will be suspicion.

What he said was...... "We're very hopeful. It's better than I thought it was going to be."

That is a long way from "being fine".

When he crawled towards the bench then could not get off the ice without help AND could not put an ounce of pressure on his leg.....you knew it wasnt going to be a day or 2.

Personally i suspected either a dislocation or a high ankle sprain....either of which would cost him 5 or 6 weeks.

Or put another way...somewhere around the 1st round.

Realistically, no not at all.

Sometimes it’s fun to pretend though — Team Chaos FTW…

Exploiting the LTIR loophole the new trend.

Teams are just shameless.

Looch should've taken some time off after getting hit in the head in warm-ups. Boom, a nice chunk of dough to play with.

The injury is clear but what is also clearly happening is that teams are going to take advantage of LTIR and bring guys back only when the playoffs begin.

There is also a whole lot of real estate between saying it was not as bad as they thought and that they were hopeful he wouldn't be out long, to announcing that he will miss the next 6 weeks.

I totally understand that a diagnosis 24 hours after the occurrence is probably more thorough than one completed right after the game, and Brunette did say tomorrow that they would know for sure (which makes sense, because tomorrow for him is the day they need to get their cap situation tight ). Half-joking on the last line.

I can totally buy that the injury is indeed as bad as it looked, plus if you are trying to pull the LTIR shenanigans, you go all out on a replacement, not someone like Hagg. So I am giving Florida the benefit of the doubt here. But the news today certainly was a complete 180 from the news last night. Those types of things will bring up some doubt. Brunette should have been a little more discreet.
