Ever since 'sitting in the Dome chilling with Jarome' came out in 2004, each time the Flames make the playoffs there's always some local aspiring hip hop artist trying to cash in on the action sponsored by 98.5 vibe/virgin radio. I'm certain today's hockey timeline from the spring of 2022 to today is directly the result of the negative karma this guy put into the world for this earbleeder and cringeworthy video and appearances during the 2022 Playoffs.
Only backlund and coleman are still with the team. Shows how much change has taken place.
The people with empathy and self-discretion were allowing for a brief mourning period for those of us who have been affected by this horrible tragedy.
In true Goriders fashion you once again show you're an awful person and added to the plethora of reasons with this post. I hope you step barefoot on a pinecone.
Vancouver Canuck Evander Kane says he is ‘humbled’ and ready to be a leader
Quote:
Kane said that as he enters his 17th year playing hockey, he’s looking forward to being someone who younger players can look up to.
“When you go through different things on and off the ice, you can lend those lessons to some of the younger guys and some other guys that are maybe struggling with things,” he said.
just went through their roster. Maybe that's just me, but isn't this an absolutely insane number of NMCs and NTCs?
C Elias Pettersson - NMC
R Brock Boeser - NMC
L Jake DeBrusk - NMC
R Conor Garland - NMC (kicking in next summer)
L Evander Kane - 16 team NTC
L Joshua Dakota - 12 team NTC
L Drew O'Connor - 12 team NTC
C Teddy Blueger - 12 team NTC
D Filip Hronek - NMC
D Marcus Pettersson - NMC
D Tyler Myers - NMC in 25/26, 12 team NTC in 26/27
G Kevin Lankinen - NMC
G Thatcher Demko - NMC (kicking in next summer)
that's 13 (!) players with some sort of trade protection, including 8 full NMCs this upcoming season. Aging team, too. They better figure it out next season and hope that Hughes won't tell them he's out next summer, or they are in for some really, really, really ugly years.

Whoa wtf… how do career high 52 and 50 point Garland and DeBrusk have a NMC?
At least DeBrusk scored… 28 goals once. Garlands best is 22. Holy ####ing ####

That does seem like a lot (Flames currently have 7 with Frost and Bahl having one kick in for later seasons). Not that uncommon though (Vegas also has 13, Colorado and Tampa have 12, a few teams have 11). If a player is giving up UFA years and has options, NMCs are pretty much the expectations now. Nine or ten seems to be the average.
The NHL should have reeled that in years ago.

One of the weirdest ones for me is Zemgus Girgensons in Tampa.

A NTC clause that allows a guy to be traded to half the teams in the league isn't really that big a hurdle to moving them, and a bunch of those guys have 1-2 years left on their deal. That's not even bad.
