Join a few rec sports teams (Calgary sport and social club is a great organization for this kind of thing). They usually make teams of people that can't put their own full teams together.
Hope that you get put on a team with a few cute girls.
It's a lot easier to talk to women when there's no expectations attached, and your playing a game/sport. You can start a few friendships, and maybe they'll develop into something more, or not, but at least you'll have expanded your social circle.
Friends of friends going out for a few drinks is a great way to meet someone as well.
