I find it funny that people who read the books had the decency for almost 20 years not to spoil things for other readers, or for TV watchers once the show came out. And for that they were called smug. But once the TV show came out, all those TV watchers felt the latest episode was free game and made no effort to avoid spoilers
even in threads about the books.
Someone could make uncharitable observations about people who read books versus people who primarily watch TV. But that would be smug
