But they're in densely populated regions. Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill has over 2 million people. Nashville metropolitan area has 1.75 million, and is growing rapidly. Greater Pittsburgh has 2.3 mil. Greater Columbus over 2 mil.
People in Western Canada maybe don't realize that what we have here - cities surrounded by essentially unpopulated hinterlands - is not the norm in the older parts of the continent, where cities flow into one another in unbroken built up areas.
