Which doesn't make any sense to me what so ever.. Apple signed a deal with AT&T as the carrier for the iPhone, now apple is going to release software that unlocks it so it can be used on any carrier?
Which to me, would explicitly stated in the in Terms and Conditions of the contract between AT&T and Apple, at least from the AT&T side. If it isn't there, then AT&T is fubar.

Maybe the contract stated that the exclusive part of the deal would end when a software unlock became available?
