Not sure what posters you are talking about but my point has been that teams just entering their contention window are not going to want to trade big future pieces just yet.

LA is different though. They are on the verge of a failed re-build. They don't have much coming in the pipeline. The fact that Greentree, who is meh, is there best prospect is evidence of this.

Greentree doesn't change much about their future. If this re-build fails (as I think it is) they've got a long road ahead. This deal seems to be an effort to try and squeeze something out of this re-build for a couple years.

TLDR: I don't think LA is gutting future because they already don't have a positive one.
