Things I like about this team:
  • Young players making an impact
  • Solid vets in Backlund and Coleman guiding the youth (love having Honzek on that line)
  • This team GAF. They stick up for one another.
It is just a tough schedule for a rebuilding team to come out of the gates strong with. It certainly seems that by the time the schedule eases up, there isn't really much to play for left. If that happens, this team will switch off pretty quick I think.

Last season I think things just snowballed with that easy start. If they keep losing, that effort is going to disappear by November. I don't think this team has the horses to play catch up in the standings if they accumulate more losses than wins in the remaining games for October starting with what feels like an automatic loss in Vegas on Saturday.

2nd last in the standings right now. Remove Andersson in a trade, and replace him with Bean full time, and I don't think this gets better (and I don't dislike Bean like many on this forum seem to). It is what it is. Focus on the young kids developing, focus on following draft eligible prospects this year, etc. Enjoy the wins when they come - there will be wins. It is what it is. if the Flames manage to bounce back up the standings and prove me wrong, great. Hope they manage to make the playoffs. If not, well, focus on the positives, savour every win, and just enjoy watching young talent develop in front of your eyes.
