With the growing gap in where free agents sign I wish we could move towards an MLB model where you get a compensation pick if a player leaves through free agency.
Not quite like theirs, but more blanket, based on salary they sign for. You home grow a player and they decide on Florida/Vegas or any of the three ****ing places that high end free agents sign, you get a compensation pick.
They sign for $40mil total - 2nd round pick (at end of round)
They sign for above that - 1st round pick (at end of round)
