Thanks, I was trying to hold back my annoyance at going through the effort to "show my work" and then have a couple of opinions roll through with blanket statements and no validation.
Anyway.... Like I said in my last post, I think the Stars' roster looks stronger if they can add a #1RD, a middle 6 forward or two while staying under the cap. They also need to get rid of Lyubushkin and had to pay a 2nd to dump Dumba's 1 year deal, does that mean Lyubushkin would need 2 2nds because he has 2 years left?
If the Flames need to give more then consider this: Johnston + Lyubushkin for Andersson + Coleman + Zary
- Andersson fills the hole the in the Stars RD ($2.275M x 1 year)
- Coleman can play #2/3LW ($2.45M x 2 years)
- Zary would slot into the second or third line wing and would need a 2 year 'cheap' show me contract ($3Mx2?) and then could get extended for bigger money once Seguin's contract expires and he establishes himself as a winger or center.
- Lyubushkin cap dump (Opens up $3.25M for 2 years)
Stars would then have $6.9M in cap space to add 1 more forward to get to a 23 player roster and have cap space leftover for the trade deadline. Also, the Stars would have the cap space to extend Robertson, Harley, Andersson, Bourque, and Lundkvist next season.
Robertson-Hintz-Rantanen
Coleman-Seguin-Zary
Benn-Duchene-Bourque
Back-Faksa-Steel
X: Blackwell, ?????
Heiskanen-Andersson
Lindell-Harley
Bichsel-Lundvist
X: Kolyachonok
But ya, Johnston won't be traded and I think this is an overpayment of assets for him anyway.
