Hanley, Pachal, Bean, and Miromanov are all replacement level spot-fillers at this point, as good as Hanley and Pachal have been in their elevated roles. If any of Brz, Morin, Grushnikov, Solovyov, or Kuznetsov play their way onto the team, the 3rd pairing with Pachal/Hanley/Bean seems like a good spot to start on.

This is why I would prefer Brzustewicz (or whomever CC feels is ready) over Byram. Flames need to start developing their drafted in the NHL. Too many players brought in have not moved the needle and I just feel Brzustewicz or Morin could develop until Makar is UFA and ready to sign in Calgary.
