Look at how Edmonton spent their futures too.
Spending futures to fill role player positions is bad business, full stop.
Spend futures on foundational/top end players? That's okay - everything else is bad business.
We saw it with Treliving, we see it Edmonton, and we see it again in Toronto with Treliving. It's GMs having an incredibly narrow view of their roster/their place in the league. Vegas has largely got it right, however they've been spending for the sake of spending since they won their Cup. Hertl? Bad trade. Hanifin? 2nd pair defenceman, bad trade.
