Q: The president said that if he were Tom Homan he would arrest Gavin Newsom. Do you believe Newsom should face consequences in a legal way?
MIKE JOHNSON: Um, that's not my lane. I'm not gonna give you legal analysis on whether Gavin Newsom should be arrested. But he ought to be tar and feathered.
In the before time that weasely little turd was a constitutional lawyer. Now, having removed whatever semblance of a spine he had, thinks tar and feathers is a good response.

I just don't see how the US stops this, the future is pretty evident.
There are too many people on the right that are happy to talk about ignoring the rule of law, and violating the constitution. They are talking about killing their democratically elected opponents. Where has this happened before?
There are only really two quetsions:
1. How violent will it get? My take is probably not much. The US doesn't seem like a country with citizens that are willing to endure much 'pain' for their freedom.
2. How long until a democracy returns?
I was talking with my kids about this today. I don't know if DJT Jr will be able to continue the legacy, and there are a lot of other vultures in the party.
Looking at other authoritarian states:
- Chile was about 20 years
- Argentina less than 10.
- Spain was 36 years.
- China has been 75 years.
- I think you could say Russia has been that centuries, from Csarist to Communist to Putin.
Anyways, depressing times.
