I’m open to seeing the data, if you have any. I don’t think coaches are equally cavalier about when they will do so and encouraging(!) defensive play when it’s done. My hypothesis is that a lot of the uptick in scoring in recent years has been due to a light bulb finally going off league wide that losing by 1 or 10 is the same thing.
