They didn't want to look 'partisan'. Meanwhile the Republicans obviously don't GAF about being perceived as partisan. What the Democrats fail to realize (and are still not able to actually figure it out based on what I've heard from their leaders since the election) is that their constituents WANT them to be partisan. They don't want stupid compromises that make things worse to "appease" conservatives. "Oh here's your half baked version of healthcare which still doesn't solve the problems of the insurance companies themselves." Like, NO. Universal healthcare or GTFO. "Oh, we're worried some fools might riot, so we don't to put this obvious traitor and criminal in jail." No! Put him in f***ing jail. "Okay, then we'll also put people in jail from YOUR side." They just don't think Democrats have the guts to actually fight for their stuff (because they haven't) and everything ends up watered down same old. So might as well send in Trump to burn it to the ground in whatever way he'll try.
