No - they’d stop buying American cars - IE Ford, GM, Dodge.
Everything is going to be made more expensive by these tariffs, including American makes.
When everything is expensive, the tiebreakers are quality and preference.
American cars have never been high on quality.
I suspect there are now a large portion of Canadians, who had never really given any thought to moving away from their Ford or Chev, but who now no longer wish to support those brands, for obvious reasons.
Combine that with a much larger percentage of the population that is going “America, #### You” and you’re going to have a lot of trouble moving overpriced, inefficient vehicles that people are now predisposed to hate.
That may well to drive down the value of preowned American cars, Which will put more owners in bad financial situations, which will discourage the purchase of a future Ford or GM. Or Tesla.
Canada imports more American brand vehicles than China and Germany combined. We are the biggest customer of the big three.
And their president has Declared war on our country. The answer to why all of these vehicles are about to become $15-$20,000 more expensive is Quite literally “#### you, that’s why”.
Employee pricing isn’t gonna overcome that.
