Just reminding myself of what took place in what I assume you mean as the war in the 90s? I think they ruled there was no genocide? I am not too well versed on this one anymore, but there are a few CP'rs that are very well read on the subject (and even served there).
Mass evacuations like what happened in Ukraine and Syria are much more recent. Syria itself had about seven million refugees and Ukraine just about the same. Looking on Wiki, Canada took in 60,000 Syrians and 170,000 from Ukraine. In both cases, many of us in Canada helped build welcome packages for these people or even took them into their homes.
In both cases, there was tremendous damage from war, similar to what we see in Gaza.
