I think with Conroy publicly stating they want Andersson in Calgary longterm and Andersson now saying the same, everything is in place for an extension some time in the 2025-26 season. The success so far this season is obviously a big factor here on Andersson's decision, so Huska and the coaching staff deserve credit again for the great job they've done in making it fun for the team to play again and helping them find success when everyone in the world doubted them. Going to be awesome having Andersson and Weegar be the vet anchors on the backend to bring the kids along!

We have signed plenty of players I don’t think signing Andersson signals to the NHL players want to play in Calgary. It just means we overpaid to keep him here. Just like with Lindholm.
Signing Zary, Coronato and Wolf is a bigger deal those are the prospects you want committing long term here. That’s a bigger deal than handing out retirement contracts.
Build a winner and you have a better shot at signing potential free agents.
