I guess if the Flames believe they are a playoff team this year and in the future they might not be willing to trade him.
But he's expensive for now and for another 4 years and not playing very well. If they are truly in rebuilding mode they should be more than willing to get that contract off the books period.
Holding out for a top 10 pick that will never happen.
At this stage, they are better to wait and see if he rebounds to some extent.
