The holiday times are prime time for lost leaders, although not like we use to see. Turkeys, hams, potatoes and baking items are always on sale around Thanksgiving and Christmas. The best time of the year to purchase these items.

I remember 20 years ago (when I was a retail Meat Manager) we were losing 30 cents per pound on .99 cent/ lb turkeys. And back the hams were $1.99/lb and you can still find them on sale for this same price nowadays. Pork prices have fluctuated over the years but the sale prices on most items are the same as they were in 2005. Tenderloins and back ribs often on sale for for between $3 and $4 per pound and side ribs and boneless loins for between $2 and $3/ pounds.
