Please don’t tell me that a party lead by a former 2 time shadow minister of finance wasn’t too busy ranting on script about the costs of things like the carbon tax and CBC to notice something that was going to cost the taxpayers well over a hundred million dollars.

You are absolutely something else today, you need to read articles and not just throw out whatever you want to make real.
In the very same article, March 22.
Quote:
In a March interview(opens in a new tab) on The Alex Pierson Show, Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre said he opposed delaying the fixed election date, and vowed to vote against it.
"I'm not good with the changes. I agree that the election shouldn't be on holiday for millions of Canadians. However, the answer to that is move the election forward," he said. "Of course it's not about Diwali, they want to get their pensions."

Other article...also in March revealing what the date change would mean.

How big of a deal do you consider the pension issue to be?

Ahem...reads the exact same article...again...from May 30 over 2 months
after Poilievre's comments and 2 months
after the Toronto Star pointed it out...suddenly having an epiphany.

It is a perk of the date change NDP MP and the party's democratic institutions critic Lisa Marie Barron says "doesn't look good," in the broader context of Canadians' cost of living concerns.
"I've had constituents and Canadians bring this to my attention, and I just want to make very clear that right now is not the time for members of Parliament to be thinking about their own financial gain," she said in an interview. "We want to make sure that we're very clear from the onset around the necessary amendments for us to move forward on this."
"There's a lot of really important pieces to this bill," Barron said. "But I can say with certainty that I will not be supporting members of Parliament who were not eligible for their pensions prior, now being eligible."

Seems like it was quite a big deal for NDP'ers...after the fact and realizing their own constituents absolutely hated their own party appearing to extend pensions for themselves. Again, the joys of the deal.
Wait...

Yea: 23
Nay: 0

NDP
still voted for it despite their play to the media about the date. Both the Bloc and the CPC voted against it, with both very dead set against it and several MPs that had their own pension in jeopardy vouching to run on their own records and asking the NDP MPs to do the same. NDP voted for it being on the record they would ask for an amendment when it goes to committee...lol
