You characterized Arvidsson as a guy who lost his role.
5 games is enough of a sample size when its the most important 5 games of the season to conclude that he in fact did not lose his role.
Yeah he's an injury risk, but 60+ games of his 90 missed games were in one season. Odds are he will be healthier than that this season.
When you can add a quality player on a short term value contract, that is a move you have to make.
Yeah Arvidsson is old, and Broberg and Holloway are young, but Arvidsson also scored 60 points in his 22/23 year old season.
Holloway turns 23 in Sept, Broberg is already 23, they are behind him in terms of career arc, and they both already miss around 20 games per season to injury the same as Victor.
Potential is nice, but a really good chunk of NHL players just hit a certain level and then stay there. I hope the Oilers don't get too hung up on youth and potential when evaluating what to do with these offersheets.
