While I am neither a psychologist or knee specialist, it would seem to me depression is something which can recur more than a physical injury.
It takes something specific to re-injure a specific physical injury, such as a knee, while depression can recur for any myriad of factors, some seemingly unrelated to the initial cause.
Knowledge based upon seeing loved ones with depression and what can trigger it, as compared to living with torn knee ligaments and separated shoulder, and what re-injures them.
Mental health is much trickier than most physical injuries, as the onset can be truly invisible, and unrelated to the physical sport.
