It makes no sense for either to take a discount. Edmo "media" is just setting it up to #### on them (Drai, in particular) if they dare to leave for a better situation.
My hope is that they are forced to ride him to free agency and either pay a massive price ($15mm or so) or watch him walk. McCrybaby follows the next year, waiting to sign a new deal until he sees what management does (whatever it is, it will be done poorly) and then walks it to Toronto or another big market.
