One additional annoyance I have about this situation is that it has once again surfaced the retrograde thinking in the NHL.
Specifically, lots of prominent pundits and ex-NHLers (like Friedman, Boudreau) suggesting that Barkov not being hurt makes the lack of suspension reasonable/palatable.
Perhaps these people didn’t see Barkov stumble again as they were getting him off the ice. The man was clearly hurt by an illegal hit, and to pretend like he wasn’t is barbaric.
