You can go back to Star Wars and you see stuff happening in the background. or you look at the details in the modelling and sets, and wardrobe, and he's amazing. He also does have the ability to put together a comprehensive story.

But the new Star Wars really does miss a lot of those key elements, and they don't stretch things, they rely on what George has built before. So we get things like alternative desert planets like Jakku, or we get Star Destroyers like the ones in the Rise of Skywalker that were the same damn Star Destroyers but stretched out to be bigger.

I mean you look at the details of where George goes, the creation of the rule of two and a minor mention of Darth Bane in a novelization, and suddenly Darth Bane becomes his own lore and fascination.
This is very accurate.

With Lucas' fare, there was intention behind every environment, species, droid, creature, and everything happening within the frame. (Even though he got carried away with that at times)

With Disney, it's like "well what would George do?" and vague interpretations of that, and a lot of small, empty and non-descript spaces as backdrops, droid that look like a slight variations of what we've seen before (except for k-2SO and bb-8, but bb-8 was disney-fied crap) and aliens that look borrowed from other franchises, instead of some new mind#### that Lucas would give us in every new title.

It's all recycled but worse versions of what came before. I don't think they've realized that by having rights to the franchise, they're allowed to expand and be as creative as they want to. Instead, most of the content just plays it safe and doesn't stretch the world outwards, as you put it.

It's just trying to make new tunnels in the same, rotting apple.
