It kind of makes sense with Conroy shifting to a broader team-based management style, where Treleving, according to Conroy, did everything alone and behind closed doors. With Conroy's style, there are a lot more people hearing things and talking about them, even "in confidence."
It seems to be a pretty significant issue that Conroy will need to get on top of as these types of rumours can wear down an organization's image in the long term -- and potentially create issues with other teams or players who prefer to keep things behind closed doors (we've seen this with Markstrom already).

Trelivingbdid everything alone? I find that hard to believe. If so, what did Maloney, Conroy,Snow, Pascal do?
Believe Conroy said Treliving made some decisions on his own.
