I have said a long time ago that I don't envy the spot that Conroy is in trying to navigate the Flames through all of this. This was not an easy job for him to accomplish. Heck, I remember a lot of pundits were saying: "Calgary simply can't make that many moves in a season". Well, Conroy did.

Was this trade a home run? Nope, not at face value. Whenever you have picks involved, especially with a team like Calgary that drafts well, it has the potential to turn into a home-run win for the Flames. Miromanov sounds intriguing, though on the older spectrum of 'prospect', but let's see what he can do with the runway that Calgary can provide him that he wasn't able to get in Vegas.

Hat's off to Conroy on what was an incredibly difficult spot as a first-time GM. You can't win every trade. What you can do now, is make the most out of what you got. This is undoubtedly the 'burn it down' sell-off year, with probably more to sell next season. I doubt any further moves are made from now on, other than maybe act as the middle-man for some trade.

From this past off-season until today, I think Conroy has done a tremendous job. I have much more hope today for this team down the road than I had at this point last year. This is a breath of fresh air, quite honestly. Get rid of everyone who doesn't want to be here. Make the environment fun. Build through the draft and have kids grow up together and build chemistry together. That's how you are going to build a championship calibre team in a small market like Calgary.
