I'm not saying The Athletic is gospel. But looking at Grusnikov's production since being drafted, it is pretty safe to say he wasn't the best defenceman in the Stars system and probably not even top 3. I hope the Flames scouts were just willing to overpay to get him, and more importantly, that they're right about him. But that is far from certain, especially considering he is posting 0.1 pts/gp in his 20th year in the AHL. Even Kuznetsov has 19pts this year.
